I and my friend plan to go to Singapore next May in backpacking type for 4 to 5 days, but actually we don't know much about this country. Can anybody share some experiences of places to go, food, and where to go shopping (as I know that Singapore is a very good country for go shopping)
Singapore is amazing!! I loved it and I think about it sooo much!!! Don't worry too much. I didn't plan, it's so easy to find your way around there, you'll probably fall on your feet. It's such a cool city and everything is in english!
If you get a train to orchard road stop (think it's a red line but it will be so easy to work out I promise) and get off there is loads of shops. There are so many shopping centres I found every time I tried to go under the underpass to cross the road I ended up in one!!
Hostel world is good, or look on the accommodation on this website. Hostels are cheap and good value in Singapore. I stayed in 98SG and found comfy beds, air con, free breakfast and use of computer unlimited. All for £6 a night Showers and toilets weren't great so maybe check out something similar if that's a turn off.
If you are using a train there are cards which you can get a bit like oyster cards (if you've ever been to london) trains and buses are really cheap! Food if you find the right places is very cheap too. The city is so clean and trains and buses is all air conned which is needed out there!
Hope this is helpful?
I went to the zoo and night safari which is amazing! Check out Sentosa beach and the Chinese and Japanese gardens if you want to chill and sunbathe The city is beautiful at night, esp down by the river near the Milan!
When I went travelling last year Singapore was a place I could move to tomorrow so I hope you like it as much as I do.
Suzi
I stayed at The Inn Crowd which was a great hostel.
Further to Suzi_00's suggestions, I'd recommend the botanic gardens as a nice tranquil escape from the city, Little India, Arab Street, the Raffles hotel, and the waterfront area - Clarke Quay and Boat Quay.
Have a drink in the bar at the top of the Swisshotel for great views of the city.
Singapore cool country (City) for Shoppers, Night life lovers and for everyone.
I don't know about hostel but i can suggest places to visit. Sgp is shoppers city, you will find malls at all the places. Go to Suntech City or orchard road for apparels. Sim Lim or Funnan mall for electronic goods you will find some good deals there.
As bex76 has suggested go to Botanic garden, there Orchid park as well and it amazing. hundreds of orchid variety.
if you want to do some cycling you can go Pulau Ubin, it's small island nearby abd you fet ferry from changi village. its small hilly area cover with tropical rain forest and there are some very good sites.
Have fun in singapore, let me kknow if you need help i stay in singapore.
