Easter hols, Venice and reasonably priced do not mix! Venice can be called nothing but expensive in the lower season, during peak times the prices skyrocket.
I would suggest using TPs Accomodation search.
As for food - check out the supermarkets (self-made sandwiches can be a life saver) and some of the smaller restaurants on the islands, say Burano, the Lido or Murano. The further away from St Marcus Square the better and cheaper it gets.
