Hi I'm going to Australia at the end of June this year, excluding airfair how much money will I need roughly.
Hi,
My friends are there just now in Perth for 4 weeks and took £2000 each, but they have free accommodation as they are with family.... so you may need to allow more for accommodation. All depends on what you would like to do. Work out a daily budget for food/accommodation then add on approx prices for any activites, then add on emergency cash...

A hypothetical 'average' backpacker would probably spend about AUD $75/day, staying in small dorm rooms in the better quality hostels, buying supermarket food for cooking dinners, travelling by bus or train to the next destination once a week, and doing a few activities. For four weeks, that works out to $2100 (about £1350). Of course, if you have just four weeks in Australia, you'll probably travel from place to place more frequently, and will want to do activities more frequently, so £1800 might be a more realistic figure for a lower bound. (And obviously you could be spending double that without even trying hard.)
