Hello, all you awesome and adventurous souls! I am months away from leaving Edmonton for Australia, but every day i get a little more excited! I have in my mind to travel from north (most likely Darwin) and wrap around the east coast line going south for up to 12 months. I'm thinking it must be a canadian mindset as to how the weather always gets warmer as you head south! But not in Oz!
Hey Lesley Anne,
I'm starting in Cairns from mid Sept, no set plans apart from going down the east coast hopefully for a year! And believe me, it can't come soon enough!
Ha I'm 31 so beat you on the age front! I'm a bit nervous that i'll be way older than most people but as you say, it's all about state of mind. 'Giving up' my current life in the UK to move to the other side of the world is pretty adventurous right?!?!
Hey guys, im planning on sept 2011 on my own too- so scary, im 23 so lose to both of you ha. im starting in sydney with family for a week or so and then planning on going up the east coast too... got a whole year to do it all in though also perth is meant to be FAB!! have you guys booked flights from the uk to oz, i can only seem to find from manchester stopping in heathrow or straight from london? xx
G'day there, just thought id let you know that theres honestly nothing to be worried about traveling oz, im from the south-east corner and have traveled most of it i realize its not scary for me since im from oz but as long as you dont go walking down the back alleys of sydney and melbourne at 2 in the morning (which im guessing you wont) you will be fine. everyone is friendly and you will meet loads of people anyway, if you need somewhere to stay near melbs let me know!
if you like beaches, tropical rain forests and the sun id recommend some of these spots, starting from darwin going clockwise.
a river trip to see the crocs in darwin
airle beach - whitsundays / great barrier reef
daintree national park
noosa heads
byron bay
blue mountains
bondi beach
wilsons prom national park
grampians national park
esperance
albany
geraldton
shark bay
the kimberlys
katherine
just to name a few.. by the way these are all amazing spots probably the best of australia according to me, all good for different reasons
Hi guys! Thanks for posting!
Tracy , it's not about "giving up" it's more like a new phase of life or just a fresh start. But still, that is adventurous of you!
Nicky, we're making our way south, not north bound. But maybe we can meet at our crossing point. As well, i'm from Canada, so i won't be booking my flights from the UK! I've personally been keeping an eye on different airlines and centres that have sales, i'm fruggle like that!
Brado, hello! The only thing i'm scared about are the snakes that could potentially kill me! And once i research all about them, i should be good to go! The list is awesome, thank you so much. I will aim to see them all, and then some!
Good on ya your goin to love it, don't worry we only have the ten most dangerous snakes in the world haha nah you probably won't even see one there not as common as everyone says.
Good luck!
hiya, i just re-read what i wrote ha. im starting in sydney then working way up to cairns and perth ect but no solid plans as yet. flights are fairly cheap from here at min just gonna take forever to get there.
