Germany-- Frankfurt to Koln?

Hi,
We will be flying into Frankfurt early on a Wednesday morning in late March and want to travel to Koln.
I need your helpful info on 1) how to get from the airport to the train station and 2)what the options are for the train. I have looked at bahn.de and admittedly got a little confused with all of the different rates, etc! We dont mind taking the slower train that travels along the Rhine that I have read about, and we definitely dont care about 'class' of the train.
As a side note, from Koln we will be travelling to Fussen, and then to Munich, (then Vienna, Cesky Krumlov, & Prague) so any helpful tidbits there are welcome also!!! Just info so if you know of any combo passes that may be easy on the wallet!
THANKS!!!!

I did some digging around the bahn.de site and came up with the following. Basically you can take a train directly from the airport to Köln! There's a direct option with ICE (express train) which takes around 50 minutes. There was one option at 10 past 8 in the morning for 39EUR if you 'buy now' versus the normal price of 61.

If you don't mind the slower option, there was one at 7:58 that takes roughly 2 hours and costs 19EUR if you buy now, versus normal price of 41. Usually the 'buy now' tickets are unrefundable/non-changeable, but as you can see, they can be great value for money for those booking early!

Regardless of which you prefer, it doesn't seem like either of these require switching trains, which is quite nice if you have luggage to haul

Does that help?

I would definitely try to grab a "buy now, get it cheap" ticket for Köln-Füssen and for Munich-Vienna too. Those will be very expensive or time-consuming otherwise!
