I went a similar route which was bangkok- ko tao and then I went to phuket and then from there malaysia. I was there one month and a lot of it seemed like travel time. I took a bus from bangkok to cumphon which took about 13 hours. then the ferry to ko tao took a couple of hours. For three weeks you may want to reconsider singapore unless you are flying everywhere.
I'll be doing an overnight train from KL to Singapore. Probably the same for Bangkok to Surat Thani then ferry to Koh Samui.
The getting to KL will be the difficult part I think.

Iv done 4 months over there started in Singapore,KL,Thailand,Laos,Vietnam,Cambodia,Thailand done all the bus run all the partying so it still fresh in my head like it was yesturday so if you need any help drop me a line or email me you will have a blast i might just have to do it again
Why not Bangkok - Hua Hin - Krabi - Koh Tao - Satun - Langkawi - Penang - Kuala Lumpur - Malacca - Singapore ????

Opospa, I fancied checking out Pattaya for the nightlife for a few nights, and like the look of Samui, as the weather is supposed to be better in April rather than the Phuket side. I was interested in Langkawi but I read a few reviews on trip advisor that it was for familys and people over 40.
