Hi,
I am an Indian student studying in Edinburgh. My family and I would like to visit the UK (Edinburgh and London), France (Paris and Lourdes) and Italy (Rome) (in that order). I will be planning the itinerary myself. My family lives in India so the visa procedure for them is pretty straightforward.
My question is for me, where do I process my Schengen visa? Here in the UK or do I have to do it from India? In either case could someone guide me with the procedure on how to go about it?
You as a UK resident apply at the French embassy in London.
Your family applies in India.
Best make it so that your family gets their visa first, so that you can show a fotocopy of their visa to the French officials when you apply. Make clear that you plan to travel together. Leave a lot of time between application for the visa and the date you plan to travel. Getting the visa can sometimes be difficult and time-consuming.
Expect the French embassy to ask for copies of everything. This includes travel itinerary / tickets, hotel reservation and most probably a letter from your employer saying that you're employed by them, you're going on holiday on the specified dates and expected to return to work on specified date.
