Alright, so the tickets are booked. moving to the UK on the 17th of March.... but where do we move to?
was hoping for some advice.. any at all
It depends really what your looking for, I am originally from Bristol and love the city there is lots going on and areas like Clifton village are lush. Recently refurbished centre. My mum lives near Birmingham now. Second largest city here. I love to visit the city and there are some great areas and lots going on but wouldn't personally choose to live in the city myself. London, obviously massive, so much going on, It's a really great city but I would say you want to really explore where you would want to live first, as with all citys some great areas, some not so great but being the capital there are definately more extremes. I know it's not on your list but have you considered Cardiff? I have been living there for 3 years and I have to say it is by far my favorite city in the uk that I have visited. Definitely the friendliest, cleanest, safest, as it is the capital of Wales it has loads going on, Great night life. The bay and surrounding areas are beautiful. Hope this is of some use to you. Good luck for the future :-)
Oh and Cardiff is cheaper to live in than English Cities. It is only 20mins from Bristol by train and has direct train and bus services to Birmingham and London. Good public transport around the city too. Personally I wouldn't live up north in manchester or Liverpool for example. Not been to Scotland so all I know is Glasgow hasn't got a great reputation but apart from that and being a wee bit chilly it's a really beautiful place, Unfortunately however I struggle to understand the accent! All the best :-)
Cardiff is a lot cheaper than other capital cities in the UK. It is not a particularly large place (the population living in the city is only 330,000) which means it is easy to get around and is well-served by public transport.
There are regular trains to Bristol, Manchester and London and bus services that go right across the country. There is a great sports scene (plenty of rugby if you're into it) and plenty of nightlife. The surrounding area is beautiful too (google Cardiff Bay, Vale of Glamorgan, Brecon Beacons etc) It's a buzzing place with a real 'city' feel.
All of the cities you have mentioned will be expensive to live in, particularly London, Cambridge and Edinburgh.
