hi all im planing a goa and the south west trip in late december and jan, from what i can gather it is hard to to find cheap to mid range accomodation during this period? its not realy my style to pre book a load of places on a set route, and was wondering what peoples thoughts are about just turning up and hunting down a room, the kinds of places im thinking are the beaches with some nite life but not the built up resort style, all advice on accomodation and locations very welcome many thanks dannyg

Rooms are available in guesthouses during that period, but the most difficult time is Xmas Eve through to New Years Day.
I'm going during the same period and looked for accommodation online back in January. Even then, many of the popular places were booked up.
I'd recommend booking somewhere online for your first couple of days and start searching around while you're there. Might also be worth considering booking somewhere in advance for Xmas week.
