With the Schengen restrictions of 90 days in 180...does anyone know or has anyone tried this. Flying into Europe (i.e., Paris) then within days going to Ireland and then staying until you can go back to Europe and using the remainder of the 90 days until the 180 days are used up and then starting another 90 days on a new 180 day period. I can't find any regulations indicating that you can't do this on the EU website. This way on can get about 180 days (shy the initially entry time).
I cannot be sure you grasp it - when you have completed ninety days within Schengen, you must have ninety out. I think you believe the clock resets to zero, which it does not.

Putting it yet another way (since this confusion keeps cropping up): the 180 day period is fluid; it doesn't have a fixed start date. You're only allowed to be within the Schengen zone for 90 days within any possible 180 day period.

If you want to live in Europe for a year, why don't you just get a visa? I have checked the German site and the fees are modest. From what I understand, a German visa is good for all the Schengen countries.
There are still some countries outside of the Schengen area, especially in eastern Europe. I'm sure you could manage to stay within Europe for a year, legally, by spending part of the time outside, part inside, the Schengen area.

Cyprus
Sure, but it still begs the question. Why not just get a visa? Then one can stay in one country without the 90/180 hassle.
