bangkok to the gulf...train, plane, or automobile?

any suggestions on the best way to get from bangkok to the gulf of thailand, most notably, krabi?

The train does not go to Krabi. Plug in your dates and see what
is charging for a flight: BKK-KVB. There is also an overnight bus from the Southern Bus Station to Krabi. Figure 500-700 baht for the bus. Good luck with your planning.

There is no direct train to Krabi, but you can take a train to Surat Thani and from there a minivan to Krabi. Surat Thani is actually the gateway to the Gulf of Thailand. From Surat Thani it is also easy to go to Koh Samui or Koh Phangan. The train to Surat Thani takes about 9 hours and then an extra 2 hours with the minivan.

The bus from the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok to Krabi takes 10 hours. As mentioned before flights with Air Asia can be cheap if you book on time. Just check their website.

thanks guys. preesh the help.
