You might be terrified now but it won't belong before that changes to sheer boredom on such a long journey. Most stop off somewhere like Thailand for a few days on the way.
Millions have flown from London to Australia. It's no big deal. Lots of Brits in Australia so you won't feel alone there.
A few years ago my American niece went to a French University in Rouen. A different language is something to worry about. You are just going to a University in another English speaking country.
I was not impressed with (nearby) Brisbane but the nearby Gold Coast is nice and there are some beaches and theme parks, etc there if you want to relax.
