hello every1, i am travelling to australia (port douglas) for 7 weeks in sept. i am staying in one location i have already brought flights and have money aside for accommodation. I'm looking to do lots of fishing and tours etc i was wondering if £3000/AU4700 money is enough for the 7 weeks.

Port Douglas? You're a bit out in the middle of nowhere there. You're going to have a long trip just to reach anywhere.
I would seriously consider my location. And possibly move around some, maybe travelling down the coast.
How much you spend depends on what kind of accommodation and lifestyle you want. If you are out partying all the time and eat in expensive places, the money will soon go. If you have more moderate tastes, then it will easily last you.
As to accommodation try: trivago, hotels.com, lowcostholidays, hotelscombined, hostelbookers and the like.
If you stay in one small location, you could pay a lot of money for accommodation there since such places often work on pay their price or go without.

It's just an hour north of Cairns, with regular busses between them. And though Port Douglas is small, measured by permanent population, it's a rather popular tourist destination, with a ton of accommodation and activities. (Admittedly limited budget accommodation, but overflowing with mid-range and top-end options.)
I appreciate you going around answering questions which have so far been unanswered, but please try to be factual when you don't know a place, rather than making scare-mongering assumptions.
Steven: AUD $4700 for 49 days works out to a bit under AUD $100/day. If you have that as spending money besides the amount you put aside for accommodation (your post could be read both ways), then that really should be plenty, except if you go completely over the top on tours (easy to do, to be sure, but still). If however you also want to pay accommodation from it, then it'll be rather tight between both the tours and the (budget) accommodation.

thanks for your reply. the money i have for accommodation is nothing to do with the $au4700. the 4700 is just spending money I.E food, tours, maybe go out a few times. i am a keen fisherman (this is what i'm intending to spend most of my time doing) and i would love to snorkel on the great barrier reef other than that its a holiday for relaxing.
