3 lads and no idea!?!?!

Hey, I'm dan and I'm travelling with two of my mates George and Robbie we are 24/25 years old and it's been booked and paid for of awhile now we are leaving on the 7th of November for Bali first then be going to cairns for about the 1st of December! Think we are the for tens days then fly down to Melbourne and hopefully move along to Adelaide for Christmas and new year!. Then Sydney for a cuple nights before we go over to newzealand for a cuple months,. I was just wanting general information bout the places a experiences from you guys I've read a lot but would like to hear about the most sees etc first hand,! And if anyone else will be around that time??

New Year in Sydney is very expensive for obvious reasons so don't go there till some time afterwards.

Bali is a tourist trap with people trying to sell you stuff you don't want on the nice beaches and tours which are done with Disney like precision as in when one leaves, one arrives for the next show.

Beware of pickpockets and being short changed there, even when changing money. At night, the mosquitoes come out.

Cairns has got diving and sport and not a lot else.

Melbourne has some nice shops and a tiny jail. Football season is March to September.

Adelaide has a beach and a historic section (just over 130 years old).

Sydney has quite a bit more:

As 3 young men you might want to check out the King's Cross area (the city has a good Underground system, with a station there.)

In your place I think I might buy the Lonely Planet guides (available in W H Smiths, etc) to Australia and New Zealand. They are packed with all the information you need and will tell you so much that you might otherwise miss. And save you money to the extent that they will soon pay for themselves.

Accommodation: Try hostelbookers, hostelworld, travellerspoint, hotels.com, etc. Book in advance and save money and hassle.

I agree with Cyberia's comments. Don't underestimate the humidity in Cairns in December, although after being in Bali it might not feel too bad.

Christmas and New Years in Adelaide might be a bit quiet, I think you'd be better off being in Sydney or Melbourne which will be expensive but worth it if you want a party.

Ah yeah cheers. We are going Adelaide Christmas and new year because iv got family there and we are spending it with them. Is Bali going to busy around November then?

Cheers dan
