I am weeks away from setting out on a RTW adventure with my boyfriend. Its been in the planning for over 2 years and now its nearly here my excitement is slowly turning into anxiety. Is this normal?! I've been wanting to travel since I was 18 but it has taken me years to organise myself and to be in a position to do it. Now I'm 27 and I am quitting my job and giving up my home and its starting to worry me! Friends and collegues are asking if I'm excited and I say I am but also nervous and they look at me like I'm mad to be nervous, hence me doubting myself and coming on here to ask you folks!
I've been travelling for decades and have been around the world three times and I still get jittery, wondering if something will go wrong, and even on flights though I've been on hundreds of them.
It's the unknown. And afterwards, you'll wonder what you were worried about.
You might buy insurance which covers many bases and will ease your mind if something unexpected does go wrong.
Don't worry it's completely normal. It affects everybody differently. When I did my rtw trip with my friend I was nervous but my friend was so upset when we left she cried nearly every day for a week while in Thailand. Luckly she got over it and it really was the time of our lives.
I live in South Korea now and everytime I go home and visit that fear of leaving comes up again.
Once you have arrived at your first destination you will be fine. It is hard to go into the unknown but everytime I did it changed my life so much for the better!
Just accept that it's normal to feel like that and enjoy your last couple of weeks at home before your amazing adventure begins.
good luck xxx
