Hi,
I have a one way ticket and know people who have been on a one way and didn't get any hassle.
Thanks for the reply Matty i feel better now haha!
Where are you heading to and when?
flying to sydey on the 24th of sptember only booked it a few days ago so in a mad rush to get everything sorted.
Whats your plans?
Im not off till February, due to saving money!
Nothing like leaving it till last minute for you is it! Good on you though
Hi Chelsea,
I've travelled into Australia before on WHV with just a one way ticket and was absolutely fine.
I'm also travelling there on a 3 month visa in December on a one way ticket (purely because im not sure of my plans for after australia) and I dont think i will have any issues, as long as I have sufficient funds for a return ticket (which i will do)
Kate
Hi Kte,
Thanks for the advice. I was panicking abit i dont know why, because i will have sufficent funds, but just have a fear of been sent home. Which i hear is very unlikely!
Awe you dont have long to wait, bet you can wait!
Wish i was going sooner, but im sure the wait will be worth it :-)
Thanks
Just to confirm what's been said before, if you have a WHV, then flying in without a return ticket is . Theoretically you should be able to prove that you have sufficient funds to buy a ticket out of the country instead, but this is never checked up on.
Hi,
I'm travelling with a one way ticket and I will be taking a bank statement with me to show that I have the funds. Where you starting off at??

Sander I'm not sure you accidentally miss used the word explicitly, but from your link it clearly states that a return ticket could be required.
Financial requirements
You must have access to sufficient funds to support yourself for the initial stage of your holiday. Generally, AUD5000 may be regarded as sufficient, but the amount may vary depending on your length of stay and the extent of your travel. You should also have a return or onward ticket or the funds for a fare to depart Australia.
You may be asked to provide evidence. Evidence may include a certified copy of a bank statement and an air ticket out of Australia.
So it seems more a rather gray area, than explicit. I know we have never heard that anyone had an issue when entering on a WHV with a one way ticket, but they do have a right to ask for it. Certainly with a tourist visa or evisitor you are likely to be asked to show evidence of an onward ticket, and you will probably be asked at check in before you even get on a plane. The problems seem to arise when you get over zealous staff who start going on a power trip just to be difficult.
