I am going to travel year or a bit more through South East Asia (Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Nepal, Tibet, India, possibly Myanmar). Possible start: DEZ 2013 / JAN 2014. I am looking for people who want to join me and spend some time (day, week, month, year) together sharing one or another part of the way. It would be really nice to have someone come along!
Also all travel tips and recommendations are welcome: highlights to see (no need to be great highlights – just YOUR personal likes), nice places to spend night, funny things to do, etc.
Thanks!!!
Check on visas first and that may decide how long you spend in each country.
November may be a better time to start, end of the rainy season. Do book some accommodation for the first few days at least so that will give you a chance to sort yourself out. Lots of internet cafes and it may be worthwhile doing it in each new country.
Asia is full of tourists all year round so no problem about being alone if you want company.
Tip. Try and travel light. You can buy most things you may need in many places so don't drag around a mountain of luggage. I continually wash and wear.
Taking photos? How are you going to store them?
I use a netbook. They are small, quite light and not expensive. 500 GB HD if you want it so endless books, lots of films, pictures, etc, etc. An external drive allows you to burn DVD's. And of course, wifi.
Dear Cyberia,
thanks a lot! Actually i would start in the beginning of Oktober, but till the end od Dezember I habe allready some plans (meditation retreat, visit a friend etc.)
Best regards, Viktoria
Just contact me when you are in Vietnam, specially in Hanoi (If you do) I will give you some tips on location and foods, also shopping
Happy time

My name is vincent. I live in the usa and I had the same plan as u did.I thinking bout leaving on dec 9 2013 to south east asia. I'm just saving money and gonna quit my job end of this year.I'm just tire working 9-5. I need to get the hell out of here. I'm a solo travel. Fuck my broke friends here. They never want to do anything. But just keep in touch, I'm always down to meet new people
Bangkok is really great I was there during mid may, the party there is crazy I loved the nightlife in Nana road which is right where I lived (President Solitaire a really nice hotel with cheap rates and they offer deals for long term stay as well oh yea and there is a kitchenette in everyroom you might want to check that out). I kinda also depends on what kind of fun are you looking for cultural? Entertainment? Sightseeing? nightlife? There is a great deal of things to do there. I really which I could join you but I'm not free during that time
You don't have to look for people in the internet. You gonna find them everywhere! In your guesthouse, in buses, trains, on the street, in a cafe.
I'm travelling since 6 months alone and i spend rarely one day alone. Often I have to take a time out, to write or just to think, because I meet so many people. Sure sometimes you don't find people you like. That happens too. If you feel alone and you want to talk, just go out, ask people if you can sit on their table, start a conversation.
I wrote about this topic in my blog too. A few tips how to find people on this site: -snip-
Don't be worried, just go, be open, friendly, helpful and it gonna be easy!
Hope I could help you a bit
Hey, a lot of thanks for all your answers and realy goot tips!!!
