Temporary Passport

Hi Everyone
I hold a Greek Passport that has expired and need urgently to fly to France (from the US). To avoid the 4-5 week waiting time needed to have it renewed-extended (pasports need to be sent to Greece and back), the Greek Consulate suggested I have it extended in France and issued me a one page Temporary passport instead, just to get me there. My question is:
a) Will France really honor it? b) Will I have no problem leaving the US? Thank you

Any particular reason you don't trust the Greek Embassy? Surely they're not so incompetent that they'd issue a useless travel document, would they?

In any case no one on an anonymous travel forum can answer your question when they can't inspect the document... I'd suggest visiting a competent travel agent or even heading to the airport to have US CBP take a look at it if you're unsure it'll work.

Good luck.

Cheers,
Terry

Thanks Terry for your input
Regarding the Greek Consulate my experience is quite the opposite.
They have been very helpful and reliable.
It was the uncertainty stemming from these three variables: a) temp passport (Greece), country of departure (US), destination (France), that I was concerned about.
I followed your advice and asked four professionals in the field, here in the US. Two said it was OK, the other two said they had no idea what it was. I concluded that the document I had was good but, apparently not all people in the field knew about temps.
I couldn't risk it. I applied for the regular passport.

Thanks again
Regards
Xrys
