Thailand & onward travel

Hello!

Amori13
It does state that you need an onward ticket when flying into Tland using the free 30 day visa waiver. However, the Thai Imm. officials rarely check. Tland encourages tourism, they are making it as easy as possible for you to visit. They do expect you to leave when your 30 days are up. Don't get caught in an overstay situation.

First of all, I would check with your airline about flying into Tland using a 1 way ticket. Several airlines won't let you board w/o a return ticket. Check. If your airline says OK, I would forget about the onward ticket requirement. They just don't check often enough to worry about it. If you are still concerned, buy an one way ticket to Phnom Penh or Siem Reap. Cheap (about $50) and you will want to visit Cambodia anyway. Good luck with your planning.

Im travelling to thailand in september for 3 weeks travelling alone sandi x

Flying to Bangkok on a ONE WAY ticket may cost almost as much as ROUND TRIP. So do the math! Getting back to Bangkok for a flight home may be cheaper than the cost of the ONE WAY FLIGHT from anywhere in this part of the world. Having a definite return date makes it easier to budget your spending. Since you can't legally work in Thailand the money you start with is the money you must live off of!

Like the previous post by Mike says it may be a problem just leaving your home airport with a one way flight and the idea of using a free Visa Exemption to enter Thailand. Easiest way is to buy a flight out of Bangkok to another country. Thailand has been getting a little fussy for visitors without return tickets because they don't want you to overstay your visa.

Or purchase a 60 day Tourist Visa.

Thai Visa Forum has been trying to keep up with visa changes and enforcement in Thailand. Things are different now than years ago.

Have fun.
