If it looks to good to be true.....

Is it in fact true?

They seem to give prices without additional fees&taxes. If you do a mock booking and ask a definitive price quote, you'll find they're no cheaper than similar websites.

These days taxes often seem to be more than the actual flight price on short flights too, so it could end up pretty deceptive if that's what they're doing...

in my experience if its too good to be true then chances are it is.

Places like ryanair and easyjet always used to display prices without taxes, however I'm sure the (UK) Government introduced some legislation that stated all prices must be displayed with tax included so as to not mislead anybody.

I'm not sure if this affect places like skyscanner . com? It sounds like a simmilar site to wholesale-flights, which I take it just scans different company website and picks out the best price?

I understand what everyone is saying yet...

Orbtiz lists the price of the ticket and the fees. That total for the search I am doing runs $934 plus $280 in taxes total being $1214.00

The whole sale people are listing (after I search) the ticket at $ 643.00 even if ya add the taxes Orbtiz does ya end up saving $291.

Is there a way to find out if wholesale-flights is trustworthy......or are they going to take my CC# and run?

Here's the on Wholesale Flights. There has been one unspecified complaint against them in the past 36 months. In doing a google search, I didn't find any other forums or websites where anyone has complained about the company. They have a contact phone number - maybe calling and talking with one of their representative will give you an idea of how they conduct business. (Granted the worst companies can have the best phone presence...)

Thank you Isadora.

I did a Google search as well and found several people asking the same question but no answer.

I had no idea the Better Business Bureau was involved with web sites. I wish there were a review or two about the site at least I would have some info to work with.

It may be a jump and pray sorta thing.

Thanks oodles!

if you pay a higher price than you think youre paying for while booking a flight, youre either a) an idiot, or b) the booking website is totally screwed up and youre getting totally scammed.

you put your CC# in right at the end, once you know how much its going to cost... you see the price of the filght, with or without taxes... you choose and go to the enxt screen, then things like baggage costs, taxes, transfers, fuel surcharges and optional insurance are... you then get a new subtotal, and if thats all the costs over n done with, then you put in your CC details. you get shown the total amount before you pay you just have to LOOK and check and see how much. theyre not gonna charge you unless you put in your # and press ok. and you dont do that until the very end when all the costs are added up...

so youre either a bit of a fool to miss it, or the website is a scam and it should be reported straight away!

tho sometimes you should really read the fine print, like ryanair makes you pay €15 for your bag or something when you get to the airport or something...

jaxstar84,

It would please me to no end if you would refrain from calling me or anyone else an idiot.

From your post it doesn't seem you bothered to check the web site in question....more info is always better than no info in these matters.

Yes, you are right the whole of the web site in question could be a scam...this would be the reason I am asking if anyone has had any dealings with them.

Hey, take it easy I-travel

I think Jaxstar meant in general, I don't think the comment was directed at you.

DGTV's comments are correct, Easyjet and Ryanair got in trouble for displaying ridiculously low fares that were in fact only a fraction of the total cost. And Jaxstar correctly points out that a lot of budget airlines have hidden extras such as baggage, meals, drinks, cancellations with minimal compensation etc.
