Hey im off to Aus in 4 days and have a WHV. Does australia have alot of festivals? ive found a few but most of them seem to be 1 day events... Im looking for festivals that are atleast 3 days + do the aussies have a equivelent of glastonbury, shambala, bestival? all these are weekend or week long events...

Theres always the Annual Exhibition, or Ekka as the locals call it, in Brisbane, QLD. It runs for about 2 weeks sometime in August. Its not a festival in the tradition aspect, more like a temporary amusement park. Theres rides, showbags, woodchopping comps, pig flying comps etc.
Like I said not really a festival, but definately some good fun!
Australia has a heaps of festivals (global gathering, V-Fest, Summerfielddays, Stereosonic, Future, good vibes etc etc), mainly in the warmer months (sept - march). Most of them are just one day festivals. Big Day Out in January is a must. As is Parklife, which is usually the end of september.
Splendour in the Grass in Byron Bay is a two day festival and falls on the last weekend in july or first in august. It is a fantastic festival. Although, it is quite hard to get tickets. Splendour is probably the closest festival to Glastonbury.
Blues and Roots goes for 5 days and is around easter time, also at Byron Bay. This is a more relaxed festival, being blues and roots, but is lots of fun nonetheless.
Falls Festival which is held over new years eve near Melbourne goes for 3 days and has a reputation for being a really good festival. I haven't been to that one myself though. Also a fight to get tickets.
In Sydney we have Big day out in jan and also in Feb there is one in centennial park that the killers are playin

petes ridge festival, over new years round sydney
rainbow serpent festival around late january near sydney i think
sydney festival, not so much of what you're looking for, but its a lot of music, over plenty of days!
falls festival .. happening in both melbourne and hobart
thats all i can think of off my head
but you should definitly go to newtown festival on 8th of november in sydney! itll be awesome!!!...even though it is only a day..
There is the Woodford Folk Festival north of Brisbane, which goes over a week. Have a look at /
