Hi all,
Bus timetables on the internet aren't that reliable. Are you there now? You should ask someone at your hotel/hostel. Or go down to the bus station and ask the people selling tickets. I think most buses travel via Arequipa.
Bear in mind though that the Inca Trail usually requires bookings months ahead. The classic Inca Trail that is, there are many others available at tourist shops in Cuzco as well for more days, less days or whatever. There are also shops offering cheap flights to Lima, so you may be able to get a bargain if you look hard enough while you're there, if you don't fancy the bus journey back.
Noob is right; going down to the terminal is easiest. Lima - Cusco is one of the most popular routes in the country, so it shouldn't be too hard to get on your way within a day. As I remember (but it's a long time ago) the bus takes around 18 hours to arrive.
However. It is absolutely a bad idea to start hiking without acclimatizing to the altitude first, which takes at least 48 hours, but preferably more. You run a serious risk of incurring altitude sickness. Postpone your hike if possible (if you're signed up for the 'real' Inca Trail, that's not an option of course. I really hope you'll be fine).
hey guys thanks heaps for your replies. I have booked a flight with star peru and it only cost me US$138 one way!
Thanks heaps again!
