Can i just say how much Air Asia sucks

They are a really great airline for cheap flights, but wow if anything goes wrong, you are completely screwed. They have no efficient customer care and basically dont care.

more to the story. So because the tickets I was trying to book sell out really fast i went to a travel agent here in India and asked if they'd book the tickets for me. They would for a 1000 rupee charge per flight, but it was worth it not to loose these tickets. the agent went online and did exactly what I did, but using their credit card. the agent was surprised he got through, saying that usually when these tickets come up everyone in India is trying to book them and the Air Asia system cant handle it and goes down. So we were both surprised when it went through. Still a mystery as to why their system wouldn't except my card, but worked on Tiger Air today for me to book another ticket.

So sorry to hear your experience with Air Asia.

I booked many tickets with this airlines using my Indian credit card and it worked fine. Not had any problem so far.
With Tiger airways too, i didn't has any problem.
Have you used Visa or Masters?
Suggest you to ask Air Asia by sending an e-mail so that in future you will ahve no troubles.
All the best.

i have used Air Asia and Tiger Air on a lot of occasion and i never had any problem...in fact, i am quite a bit satisfied with it, good enough for short flights

are you using an international credit card? visa? masters? that should work....

next time (if there will be a next time) maybe you can try to contact them through a phonecall rather than merely make transactions online to avoid any problem

I had the same problem with Air Asia! We could only book one flight per credit card and now we don't know how to get the last one :-) Hope the flight is better...

Let us know how it goes when you do have a problem with them. I garentee you will be stressed. Thats what im saying they are great when things work, but when it goes wrong they have no back up plan. I talked to customer service many times and they offer no solution. If you know how their system works then you would know that when you try to book a flight by phone they dont give you the same price as booking direct online, even though the problem is their system, which they have no confirmed by email, they still refused to honor the online price and wanted to charge me double the price by phone. Then they couldnt understand why I didnt think this was a satisfactory solution, so they kept repeating it till I gave up with them.

I think most budget airlines are equally frustrating to deal with when something is not going right.

By the sound of it, you're in India at the moment, and reading what you said about the Indian agent being surprised at being able to get the tickets, perhaps it's a server issue when you tried to do your booking initially? I have not personally booked with Air Asia before but I know my brothers have (although not from India, but still using international, non-Asian country issued credit card) and as far as I know, they went through fine.

As for Sara's problem, that's the first I've heard of.

It does get so frustrating sometimes when you are trying to book a flight in any budget airlines.. but as for my experience the best budget airline is airasia, compared to the trouble i've had with others.

also, it is true that sometimes the more you speak to them, more like when you call their customer support hotline, that it gets more irritating because they aren't much help and their level of English isn't good enough to handle an irate passenger or customer!

Air Asia is to global flights cheap, as Ryanair, Easyjet and Wizzair are to European flights cheap. You get what you pay for.
I have flown both BA and Air Asia to the Far East. Both offered a different service at a totally alternative cost. The choice is ours. I also find Air Asia more efficient at timekeeping. It's always going to be cost - v - finer service overall, regardless of airline or continent.

Air Asia - NEVER fly this garbage airline.

I made a huge mistake recently by booking some tickets on Air Asia. I had heard their aircraft and service was among the world's worst, but was sucked in by the cheapness of the fares. I booked a MEL-KUL ticket and a KUL-MEL ticket. When doing this I noted that the MEL-KUL flight was "Economy" (a class which according to their rules allows name changes) and that the KUL-MEL flight was a so-called "Economy Promo" flight (a class which according to their rules does not allow name changes).

Later circumstances changed and I wished to transfer my MEL-KUL flight. I quoted my booking number and asked whether this was possible, and received the following reply:

Dear [Name],

Greetings from AirAsia,

Changes of name will depend on the fare that you've booked on. If the fare that you have booked for is categorized under promotion fare, name change is not allowed. Under your condition, please refer below:

D72723 (MEL to KUL) falls under Economy fare - name change allow

D72722 (KUL to MEL) falls under Economy Promo fare - name change not allow

Name changes on bookings are allowed 6 hours prior to departure .Please contact our Call Centre at 603-2171 9222 or 603-2171 9333 (Malaysia time +8 GMT) for further assistance.

For further information, please refer to our Terms and Conditions article 5.4 and 5.5.

Clearly, this email indicated that a name change was possible. Hence I made arrangements to sell my ticket to my brother, and he committed to accommodation and other expenses in Kuala Lumpur.

However, when I actually tried to make the name change they refused, persistently stating that my fare was "Economy Promo" even though the itinerary indicates "Promo". They also said that the person who first responded to me was 'mistaken' without explaining why.

My advice: don't be sucked in by the superficial cheapness of this disgusting garbage airline. Since unlike Singapore Airlines they can't get you to part with your money based on good service or decently equipped aircraft, they will find other ways of doing this.
