I am going to SE Asia and India and am very keen to just take my Debit Card and a Credit Card for emergencies. Is this enogh or should i get Travellers Cheques (I never seem to use these) and buy some USD? Im in the UK
Yes, a debit card for withdrawing money from ATMs, together with a credit card for emergencies, is really all you need. Effectively no one bothers with traveller's cheques anymore (getting harder and harder to find places accepting them, let alone places which still issue them), and although having some spare USD handy is sometimes useful, it's definitely not essential.
(I don't think there's any SEA countries where the above doesn't hold true, but I don't know for certain about literally every last one of them. It's always a good idea to do things like reading up on money matters in the lonely planets for the specific countries you intend to visit.)

Yep debit card and credit card is the way to go. Flights and stuff pay with a credit card so your insured just incase. Look into the charges that banks use. I think you will find a nationwide flex account has much cheaper withdrawal charges than most.
I agree. You will need american dollars for visas for cambodia and loas. Otherwise you are good with the cards
The ATM and the credit card should be OK.
Just be sure to inform the issuer that you will be traveling.
TC's for back up.
let your bank know you are going abroad - they will block your card otherwise!
In Cambodia it is useful to have a lot of ONE dollar bills as general currency in tourist areas - - you will get your change in Riels.
One Dollar bills are hard to get from a bank - bring some with you.
NB - ATMs in Thailand charge 150 baht surcharge on each transaction on all foreign cards in virtually all ATMs
