How quickly can I get from Dublin to London if I take a train and/or train and ferry combination? Is it easy to transfer from ferry to train? Any idea on price? Thanks so much!
Hi there,
If you're leaving Dublin from Dun Laoghaire via Hollyhead to London the complete journey time is approximately 6 hours 'actual travel time'. That is two (2) hours by ferry Dubln-Hollyhead and about 4 hours by train Hollyhead to London Euston station. But, the journey - depending on which Ferry sailing you decide upon - may take up to 12 hours.
To the best of my knowledge the total cost is roughly £29UK for a one way journey (approx < Euro35) but there may be foot passenger specials from time to time.
I haven't done it in a couple of years myself but it was usually a decent trip so long as you are aware how long it will take and you come armed with food and drinks to keep you going (too expensive on the ferry and train).
I've put the email address below which gives details of ferry and train times and costs. Hope that's of some help to you.

Brendan: Thanks so much for your input. After doing some research online, I was afraid it might be an all-day trip. Dublin may have to be on the next trip over! Kind regards.
I'm sure you have your own reasons but flying time between Dublin and London is about 50 minutes... Ryanair, Aerlingus and many others make the hop 20-30 times per day.
