HI, i was just wondering if anyone living in USA could tell me how much an internal flight from Vancouver to Texas would cost?
I understand there are many airports in Texas so maybe Austin or somewhere close to Memphis.
So many variables determine price - don't think either of us could afford the day B4 Thanksgiving! Probably much cheaper if you cross to Seattle and fly down from there. Alaska Air has a brand new flight into Austin, but a larger airport like Dallas/Ft. Worth would probably be cheaper. Check out one-way pricing at Southwest Airlines. Many airlines will have weekend specials that are only sold at discount a few days B4 flight time - check out Alaska Air site as well as Frontier, American and Continental Air websites.
How is a flight to Texas internal?
Yeah didn't mean internal to be honest. But if i go from Seattle it will be internal, which will be the best option i think.
If you fly out of Seattle it'll be a domestic flight-that's the proper term-internal is what they used to use in the old Communist Empire countries.
In any case since you clear US Customs & Immigration here in Vancouver the flight is treated like a domestic trip-check in only 90 minutes in advance not 2 hours like International.
Don't think of Canada to the USA as being an internal flight - it most certainly isn't. Yes they're both on the same stretch of land, but so are Paris and Vladivostok !
I'm guessing here, but maybe the best route (and possibly cheapest) would be Vancouver to Phoenix with Westjet and then onward across to Texas. Memphis is around 200 miles away from the Texas border.
Westjet used to be a really cheap carrier on a regular basis. The situation has changed somewhat now. They still have seat sales, but the numbers available aren't so great and it involves chopping and changing routes and dates.
Using a day like November 18th, I think probably your cheapest rate would be:
Vancouver to Seattle via shuttle bus directly to the Seattle/Tacoma airport):
is $53.20 USD
and then you can get a one-way Web only "getaway" fare to Austin, Texas for $133.20 USD ($119 base cost)
meaning the cost to go the entire distance is $186.40 in US dollars (and Southwest doesn't charge extra if you need to check a bag--unlike other US air carriers).
Oh, and the plane from Seattle to Austin will only make one stop enroute (in Phoenix, Arizona)--and you won't even have to change planes if you book it right.
[ Edited to add details on plane routing ]
