Hello,
I've sent you a personal message with a website address that has (probably) the cheapest prices for apartments in the city.
I've used them several times and they've never let me down.
Just read your reply to my message. Not sure where you're coming from with it.
Hello Leo,
Hmm. Email meaning can be obscure. When you wrote "not sure where you're coming from," I'm not sure if that meant my language was unclear, or if you wanted to know my location. I'll try again.
Thank you very much for your link to inexpensive hotels. I'm sure that info will be helpful in terms of a place to stay for a week or so.
However, as I thought I wrote, we're looking for an inexpensive APARTMENT, one with kitchen facilities, wifi, washing machine etc. We are now renting such an apartment in Italy for 300 euro a month. Last month we rented a similar apartment in France. I now see on various boards that we can rent a similar apartment in Spain, Germany or France for about the same price: 300 euro a month. I have not been able to find a similar apartment in Turkey for less than 500 euro a month; thus my request for info.
As to my exact location, we are now near Rome, and if we do go to Turkey will be flying out of Rome.
My last comment was in response to your kind offer to provide us with some info on places to go. What I was trying to say was this: Thank you very much for your offer. I'm sure i will take you up on it, once I have my housing situation sorted out. But right now I am totally focused on securing housing for the next two to three months.
A further word, we are not traveling on holiday. I am a working writer traveling and doing research. I write about four to six hours everyday and therefore my needs are a bit different than those of holiday travelers.
In any event, thanks again for your information.
Cheers,
Morgan
Hello again leo,
I think I see where the confusion is. You gave me a link that you said was for apartments. Maybe it's my fumbling around (I'm not much good on the internet) but I can't find any apartments on that site, only hotels and hostels. Therefore, I replied as I did.
Best regards,
Morgan
hey there Morgan,
Since I live in Istanbul, I can give you a few advises about location. If you want a peaceful and isolated place to write you can go Sarıyer and Çekmeköy regions. There flats are usually cheaper than the center of te city. But the places are not far. You can go to downtown Istanbul by bus in 25-30 minutes. If you want somewhere more central you should look up to beşiktaş, şişli, dikilitaş, fulya, fındıklı, cihangir regions. Century 21, Remax, Ilkon and Turyap are most reliable real estate chains in Turkey they provide bilingual employees for expats like you.
Hope you will have great time in Istanbul.

If you look half way down the 1st page on the right, there are apartments there for under €350 a month, with all amenities and they are apartments, not hotels or hostels.
Hope you find it this time. It's who we used when we were there and they were excellent for service and providing what we needed.. cheap.

Hello Veroltoksoy & Leo,
Thanks for the info Veroltoksay. I will check out those agencies.
And thanks especially Leo for your patience with a digitally challenged person, should have seen that right away.
With these leads I think I have enough to find a place, or at least to determine if spending two to three months in Istanbul is a good idea.
Thanks to all,
Scrivner

No worries. I'm often, as you put it, digitally challenged as well. A few people here at T/P have asked me to put up some pictures of my travels and I have absolutely no idea what to do. Blogs, hard-drives, memory sticks etc.etc. Whatever happened to simplicity? Or should that read youth????
When I'm working abroad, some of my colleagues are young enough to be my children, they laugh at me when I change a tape in my camcorder.
What's funny about that

Bedouin Leo,
Great handle by the way- I know what you mean. When we're shooting everyone in my crew is at least thirty years younger. I don't even try to keep up with tech, just let them do it and hand me what I need.
