To spend 16 weeks in SEA on a us$5400 (£3400) budget?
I'm planning on spending 6 weeks in Thailand, 2 weeks in Laos, 2 weeks in Cambodia, 2 weeks in Vietnam, 1 week in Bali and 2 weeks in Malaysia. This is just a rough estimate, I only have a one way ticket, and if I really enjoy one place I'll probably stay a bit longer. But budgetwise, can i do it? I'll probably have a bit more money when I leave, but that is what I have now
£850 am month is a comfortable trip . Air con room, good food, plenty for beer etc ..
You will be fine on that budget .
don worry! its more than enough!!! hehe
What time of year? High season will be more in Thailand ($$$) and Malaysia ($$$$). Indochina is always a bargain ($$).
Thanks for all the replies guys!
I will be arriving in Thailand in the middle of february. Does anyone know what the weather is like in SEA in may/june?
Its the start of rain season, but its mostly glorious weather May and June .
Some years the seasons can go on for longer than other years, or shorter, so its pot luck .
Every time i have been to SEA it has always been around this time, and i have always had plenty of good weather .
Malaysia and Thailand are much more tropical = HOT than Indochina and best time to go is winter. I was very hot in Feb this year, but temps in Hanoi were cool then. Don't think I could take it in Thai in June!
I think it is more than enough
however i do recommend you search online and pick up the spots you want to travel in those countries
also check the travel options to/from and within the countries
during my recent trip to Malaysia - i saved alot because of my research
Thanks
I think maybe 7-10 days in Laos and use the rest in Vietnam...
May and June is a mixture of hot, wet and humid season...
South would definitely feel like this and the east, west and central part of the country. Northeast would have less rain and humidity, and as for the northern part of the country, less rain, colder atmosphere..
