How far is Siem Reap from the floating villages???

Hi everyone,
I'm flying into Siem Reap to see the temples and would love to see the floating villages as well. Maybe on a day trip or something like this?
And can I take a bus or train from Siem Reap to Phnom Phen?
Thanks!

Sara,
No train to Siem Reap, just bus or boat. Figure $10 for the , about $30 for the . I have only seen the as you coming onto SR.

the best floating village trip is to Prek Toal where there is a bird sanctuary
maybe a bit more expensive than the super touristy ones, but likely a far better experience
check out Sam Veasna Center or Osmose for these trips.
have fun!

Sara,

Maybe you could try out not so touristic Kompong Phluk - a floating village on stilts in Tonle Sap. Preak Toal is more for those into bird watching, and pricey too! Kg Phluk gives you an insight into villagers lifestyle. Homestay kind of accommodation is available, and you can enjoy a paddle canoe through the breath-taking "flooded forests (Sept through March/April). Ecotourism is a new word here introduced by UNDP to the locals

PM me if you want to know more.
