Chile itinerary

hiya

Well if I were you right now I think i'd go up mainly along the argentinian side of the andes. Southern Chile's infrastructure is kind of screwed up right now I hear.
How does this sound: Ushuaia-Rio gallegos (hub)-El calafate (perito moreno glacier)- Puerto Natales (torres del paine national park)-back to el calfate- El Chalten-(more beautiful trekking but smaller than Torres)- El bolson (hippy chillout village)- Bariloche/ san martin de los andes(mountains and lakes)- mendoza (wine region, great malbecs)- Cross over into Chile?
There's my suggestion, its not really a chile itinerary, but it'll get you from ushaia to santiago
It can all be done by bus. check it out on a map and google! ^^
John

you would have had to have been in hibernation for the last week to not know now is probably not an ideal time to be traveling through this part of the world. I would imagine well laid plans could easily go awol.

I completely echo what wololooo said but if you must go up through Chile then I would suggest Pucon. However, El Bolson (amazing beer) and Bariloche would offer an almost identical (and cheaper) experience.

I forget the number of the route now but it is fairly common and follows through some of the places listed above.

Torres del Paine is well worth a look and I would allow a week for there if you fancy doing the W trek and having a day or two to chill afterwards.
