hi all
i have decided to go for a dslr camera for my upcoming trip, which will be an addition to my current cannon point and shoot. after reading reviews and recommendatios on travellers point and elsewhere i am almost certain that i am buying nikkon 3000. my question is should i go for the 18-55 lens, is it good enough for the 'routine ' use or should i consider 18-105 or 18-200?
thanks
jay
Hi!
What's your budget? I mean there's a huge difference between a 150$ 18-55 and a 700$ 18-200.
Hi, I have a Nikon 18-200mm lens and can vouch for its excellent sharp photos. If you can only afford one lens, then you can't do better than this lens. At the 200mm end you will get good quality long range shots of wildlife, and at the 18mm end you get good wide angle shots for shooting in confined spaces such as narrow streets. This is also an excellent portrait lens.
With your choices, the 200mm lens is clearly the best choice. It is a versatile zoom lens which can work pretty well in a lot of occasions. The only thing to consider here is the price.
thank you all for your responses!
right now i am using 18-55 lens with great results and plan to upgrade to 18-200 lens soon.
good choice... 18-200 is definately a great starter and you'll be more than happy with that setup
Just found a great photo how-to book on Amazon that answered every question that I had and then some. Sell your digital travel photos
the great part is the travelling light aspect of the book and the advice on the ideal camera for traveling photogs.
