La Paz-Bolivia, Córdoba and Salta-Argentina: WORTH THE STOP?

Hi,

La Paz was my favourite city in 6 months of travel in SA and would thus defo be worth a stop imo. Some good hostels there (I stayed in Adventure Brew - right next to bus staton). An interesting town to walk around, good markets, nice places to go out, fantastic cycling (death road, ghost trail) and a few other outdoor persuits. It's also the gateway to Rurrenabaque - a 30-40 min flight into the jungle which was about $60US return. From there you can spend some great days on the river fishing for piranah, swimming with dolphins and camen, seeing wildlife - again $60 for 3 nights/4 days. Money well spent I thought.

I spent 10 days in Salta but mainly because I was doing a Spanish course there. Nice enough place and worth a stop over but its no great shakes imo.

I loved Cordoba and surrounding area. Vibrant town with 6 or 7 universities so a young feel to it. Great for going out for food/drinking etc. The surrounding area is fantastic for outdoor activities such as paragluiding, cycling, walking. Nearby there is a great wee Che museum. The town is full of culture and a city tour is massively recommended. i got loads from it about things like the dirty war and such like. Beautiful buildings and parks. Think I stayed in Tango hostel here which was centrally located and pretty good. Lots of communal meals served up there. Night market was also good.

Salta is my favorite city in the world. I spent a lot of time in the city made many friends and a wife too. Stay at corre caminos vincinte Lopez 353 that place changed my life. I will live in salta one day. Balcarce street is a good place to go out to a bar or a club. Check out salon VIP on Wednesdays its loads of fun.
