Does anyone know which islands are the best for budget travellers.
We would like to spend 3 weeks on 4 islands and are looking for comments from people with experience of the Caribbean and island hopping.
Would anyone also know which of the islands would be be best for flying to the Galapagos Islands from.

There are only flights to the Galapagos from Quito and Gayaquil in Ecuador so you have to fly to one of those cities first.
There are direct flights to Ecuador from Bonaire with KLM as far as I know. Might be others as well, would check the airports of Aruba and Curacao as well, because they are closest to the mainland of South America.
So you mean 3 weeks caribbean, not 3 months (like in the title?)
Caribbean is not much of a budget place, though Cuba can be travelled quite cheap. You need the full 3 weeks though to have an experience.
Do you want culture, nature, beaches, some of them, all of them?
My favorites are Saba, Montserrat and Dominica, mainly because they almost have no beaches at all except a few smaller ones and crowds are few, except on cruisehips days in Roseau, the capital of Dominica. Just base yourself in the north, too far for those people.
On Montserrat, Gingerbread hill has good prices, on Saba I'll recommend El Momo Cottages or Eco Lodge Rendez Vous.
On St Kitts (also very nice island), there is a guesthouse in Basseterre (Ocenview or something, Seaview maybe) with cheap-ish rooms.
Although I haven't been there, on St Eustatius and Trinidad/Tobago you can find some cheaper options to stay as well.

Thanks so much for the info we have 12 weeks for the Caribbean 3 weeks approx on 4 islands. I had thought about Cuba and Dominica so glad they are on your list and had thought of using ferries/planes between the islands.
We like hiking but only up to about 6 miles my old feet aren't as young as they used to be, culture, churches, museums, architecture, beach/lake as we sail and snorkel, nature, mixed bag of interests.
As far as accommodation is concerned don't mind camping but will not be taking camping gear so it would have to be set up for us, hostels and budget apartments. We have about £80 a night this would include everything(accommodation food local transport, do you reckon it is possible (excluding flights)
I've just started researching so the information will be very useful.

Aha, ok, read it correctly now: 3 weeks on each island. Well, with that budget (couple or person by the way?) I would seriously include a cheaper one like Cuba and spend 3/4 weeks there. The country deserves that amount of time and it gives you some flexibility regarding budget on the more expensive islands.
Heard good stories about sailing/snorkeling in the British Virgin Islands. Probably going there myself later this year for a couple of weeks.
is fine for 2 weeks, but you really don't need more as it's small. O, just to make sure: don't be confused with the ..
Islands like St Barths, St Lucia, Barbados, Martinique, Anguilla and Guadeloupe should be avoided because of high costs.
Although I haven't been there, it seems that Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines can be done cheaper than average. Same applies for Jamaica although it's not my kinda place with max. hassle and so.
So out of the 12 weeks, 4 weeks Cuba and than maybe 3 weeks British and US Viring Islands (doable by ferries to get around, and some camping options), 2 weeks Dominica and a couple of weeks Saba/St Eustatius?
