Hi all. Me and 2 friends have been in Oz since November. We have been staying in the Gold Coast since we got here and have just got back from Sydney where we spent 4 nights in a backpackers. We all have jobs in the Gold Coast at the minute but feel like its time to move on. We are going to be flying over to Perth end of february and we are interested in mining work. We know exactly what work conditions are like in the mines as we have met people in work who have done it. We each have trades: Mechanic, Electrician and a welder. We just wanted to know how hard is it to get into the mines? We have spoken to a few backpackers who say its not that hard but have also heard it's almost impossible to get into the mines on a 12 month WHV. If anyone on here has done mining work on a 12 month WHV, I would appreciate it if you could give me any advice on what we need to do. Thanks in advance, Lee.
