I have 2 days in La Paz and am keen to visit Lake Titicaca but can't find much information about day tours from La Paz; is this because it's not realistic to do the trip in that time frame?
When i was there i did a tour from Puno and actually spent a night on one of the islands which was amazing.
As soon as i arrived in Puno i went to the Tourist Information and booked the tour for the next say.
Trouble with La Paz is i reckon most of the tour companies do not have facilities to promote their trips on the web.
Ive got some friends who own Loki Hostels in South America and they have a hostel in La Paz. On their website they organise trips to Lake Titicaca.

- You could just catch the bus from the Bus Station in La Paz to Copacabana, not the one in Rio, there's one in Bolivia too.
It is on the shores of Lake Titicaca. You can stay in the town overnight, there's a market, not too much more though.
From Copacabana you take take a boat, to one of the islands on the lake, Isla del Sol, Isla de la Luna. You can stay overnight on Isla del Sol in rooms on offer from locals. They will either be there to meet the boat or send their kids to barter with you. All good fun and good natured.
There's no shop really so bring some snacks with you. The person you're staying with can arrange lunch, at an additional price or can recommend somewhere. There's no food available in a restaurant as such at night.
When the sun goes down you'll be treated to a view of the snow-capped Andes being turned pink and all sorts of light shades before the sun goes down.
When the sun is all gone you'll see a couple of lights in the hoses dotted around the island being lit. It's a bit quaint looking.
Then if the stars are out, should be, you'll see a whole night sky full of stars, with the Milky Way visible.
There are hikes and treks you can do during the daylight to ruins and sights. The island is covered in steep paths, so be warned about altitude issues.
- Another day trip from La Paz is to Tiwanaku, sight of the seat of the ancient eponymous pre-Incan civilisation.
You can take a bus from near the cemetery high in the hills of La Paz.
