Bali- how long for and must sees?

Hi everyone

Heard of factory tours? That's what they do in Bali. Pop into a travel agent and they'll fix you up with some. As you turn up at a site, there may be another group also, and some will be leaving. As you leave, more will turn up. Bali was heavily commercialised when I first went there 25 years ago.

Beaches are not bad but you get kids trying to sell you junk you don't want all the time you are on them. Rainy season usually starts some time in November. Lots of mosquitoes about after dark, so take malaria tablets.

Be careful of pickpockets there. Not just on crowded transport but I had a young lady pick my pocket while measuring me up. I was also short changed by a little old lady in an exchange bureau who promptly shut up when I left.

Not really much in Malaysia apart from Penang and Kuala Lumpur. Singapore is not bad but has never had any reasonably priced good accommodation. Some things to see there, and public transport is pretty good.

hi sarah, how are you? im fine .
my name is rois , im from bali and working in bali ratu spa. i saw in forum u will coming to bali so welcome to bali.

I went to a fantastic abandoned amusement park in Bali that I will never forget.
You'll have to google it because I can't remember the location (a lovely driver took us there when we asked him to show us something special)
We were the only ones walking around this overgrown and crumbling theme park.
It was FANTASTIC! only took an hour or so to walk around with a lovely "guide"/(some guy who appeared out of the bushes. He was more than willing to show us around and answer our questions about it.... for a very little tip at the end.
Absolutely fascinating.

I love to go to Bali for relaxing. Beaches, sunset, watersport, massage, drink, and friendly local people.
You can go to seminyak area. Lots of nice shop there around the street, place for dinner and night life. Such as: hu'u bar, ku de ta (my fav spot!) and potato head is new one.

Every time I go to Bali. Always visit ==Ubud== simply, nice weather, Peaceful n beautiful.
It took one and half hour to reach ubud. You can ask driver from htl to get you there. Cost around: us$35-40. Not so much night life in ubud, cafe or bar will close down around midnight. Good place to stay is: hotel junjungan ubud Bali. Affordable price with beautiful padi field view.
And for resto, I recommend: Bali Murnis warung. Http://www.murnis.com

Enjoy your trip to Bali!

Thats great, thanks for all your feedback. I plan to visit Ubud in particular as it looks really interesting. Not really fussed about the club scene while I'm there. Just looking forward to experiencing as much as I can on my trip!!

Hey Sarah

Bali is rather small and I think a month will be plenty!!! maybe plan to go over to Lombok too, its worth it and a bit more traditional..
If you are a '"ill stick to the tourist" places than Kuta would be your place to be.. I personally hate it there and I only travel there if I HAVE too..

I will be there for 2 month (nov.dec 2011) as my parents live out there so if you are lost, stuck need advice just let me know!

ps. please dont pay 30-40 dollars to get to ubud!! the local bus costs you 40.000 which is 3 euro.. and you have little travel agencies everyone trying to give you the best price.. dont pay anything is dollars you know you will get ripped off..

Bali is little but so much thing to see and experience, less than 2 weeks is painful to come back home

specially if you want to visit Lombok and other virgin island surronding!

Lovina is a nice little beach town worth a couple of days and there is good snorkeling in the area. Allow a few days for Ubud.

Would anyone recommend going to Lombok and if so how long to spend there? Also doing a similar trip and will 3-4 weeks be enough for bali and lambok? Also if anyone knows, what sort of cost are you looking at to get to and back from bali to lambok?

Thanks
Dom
