lol, that trip sounds awesome. I hope you all have a great time.
Hi Frank!
I am 28, Catalan (from near Barcelona) and now live and work in the UK, near the Peak District, as an engineer. Since I spent the best part of my university years totally skint (18-25) I have been travelling around Europe and north Africa but not crossed the Oceans. Somehow, apart from the "travels", I also managed to go to some parts of Europe as part of my studies, which was a bonus to soak in a bit of the culture! I spent two years in France, about three months in Germany and another month in Kiruna, north of Sweden.
John is 26 and he's from the UK, he also likes hiking and adventure sports.
Trip is not fixed, so could change it as we wish, time and money permitting. I would have liked to visit both Tarangire and the north migration in Serengeti, but don't think the time permits it, so the two options are so far:
Visit Tarangire, Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro crater and a short walk (2-3h) to the elephant caves and a 30m waterfall set within the forest. Then stop for a couple of days in Olduvai in a camp in Masaai territory and interact with the local people, go for a walk with the Masaai people as guides, a little bit of a scramble and up to a small cave with Masaai art, walk to little olduvai gorge and then climb sunset Kopje about 30 min before sunset (all this with a reaaly cool guide!) On the second day we can go to the Olduvai Gorge Museus and shifting sands and get out into the Gol Mountains and maybe onto Olkarien Gorge, where the vultures and other birds of prey have their main roost, I think another 30min from there there's an impressive water-worn canyon. Then head to Central Serengeti for some game viewing and find lion and cheeta's hideaways... then go up to North serengeti for another few days to see the bulk of the migration.
North Serengeti is quite a lot more expensive, and as I only have from 22nd-28th September I don't have time for everything, so I would be doing either from Tarangire to Central Serengeti (and not the north serengeti), or Ngorongoro/lake manyara to north serengeti (and not the tarangire).
Like it?
Paula
