Hey guys I am in Sydney at the moment and wanted to go some where that's hot.
I was thinking Darwin?? I want to work a little, then travel back down to Sydney before the xmas as I have family here, I will be traveling alone so would really love if you have any advice? Is Darwin a good place to work, see things and just in general? Or is there any place else you would recommend for me starting my travels..... I have a year and want to see as much as I can.

What kind of work are you looking for? I took the liberty of doing a search on Seek for . Looks like there's a few options at least.
Darwin is incredibly hot and humid for much of the year, and there isn't really a lot to see there. You're also much more likely to meet other backpackers in Sydney or any of the other big cities. I'm not sure what the job situation is like given that it's smaller and not as touristy as other parts of the country. However, if you did end up living there for a bit, you're close to Kakadu and Litchfield national parks which are absolutely stunning.
