I will be going on a Pilgrimage to Croatia via Frankfurt in both directions. I am thinking of spending 7 days in the region before coming back to the States. Please help with suggestions as to what to do. I'll be landing in Frankfurt, and then I have 7 days. I am thinking of Flying directly to Vienna and spending the full 7 days there. Any suggestions? I will be traveling by myself. I am an older female but no one can tell! I need some suggestions before I purchase the airfare. Thank you in advance.
From Frankfurt, Vienna is over 300 miles away. Why not go to Berlin which is just 40 miles away?

Thank you for your response. How do you suggest that I get from Frankfurt to Berlin? Should I make Frankfurt the base and go from there or should I fly directly from Franfurt to Vienna and spend the entire week there? Thank you for an update.
Well there plenty of things to do and places to visit and you have enough time to explore both the places. In frankfurt you can visit to beautiful places like Romer(this building is really an eye catcher), Main river, Palmengarten, museums, alte oper. And in Vienna you can visit to Historic center of Vienna, Albertina, Belvedere palace.

Berlin is indeed closer to Frankfurt than Vienna, but it is still about 550 km (340 miles?) away, so that's not really the problem. Nevertheless, Berlin is a great city to see as well . If you'd go by train from Frankfurt to Berlin, it would take about 4-5 hours.
Vienna has some nice sightings as the Prater, a huge park/theme park, musea, the opera, and not to forget, Schloss Schönbrunn. It's well worth the visit.
