hi there i am a 18 year old student, i basically was in a car accident that i should have died in since then i have realised that nothing should hold me back and now i am determined to see the world and even volunteer helping people more disadvantaged than me just to scare to go alone xx

don´t worry, it´s always like this in the beginning. After travelling a few times alone you will feel much more confident. Going alone on a trip doesn´t mean that you have to stay alone during the whole journey. You could use sites like this one to find travel companions (travbuddy com is also quite convenient for that purpose) and if you stay at hostels it´ll be really easy to meet fellow travelers. You could also join a volunteer program where you´ll also be able to meet like minded people.
Im also afraid to go out solo. I mean, is that kind of fear of unknown, new things that one have never done b4.
Im free from the day after tomorrow for at least two weeks and want to go to Chile/Valparaiso/Viña but is again that fear there :s
I find organized trips are a good way to make buddies.
going travelling along can be very scary.....you just need to decide whether you want to go outside of your confort zone and through yourself into the unknown. my suggestion is to just do it. I was scared for so long (about 4 years) to go travelling along (still scared now) but though if I don't do it I will regret it. can't wait for my journey to begin.
where are you planning on going? when?

thanks guys :-) am not really sure where i want to go am so easy i just want to find myself and see a few places then hopefully in 2013 work in south africa helping orfans and the less fortuned people xxx
