Hello i am thinking about going to south america for 2 months ( Venezuala,columbia,Ecuador and Peru.) I would just like to know from people that has been what an average allowance a day would be.
Your biggest expense will be travelling as distances are great in South America.
Going to the Galapagos Islands is very expensive and you should book it beforehand as only a certain number can go at any one time.
Accommodation and food generally, £30 a day should be OK.
Be careful of pick pockets anywhere in central and south America. A money belt is handy but it doesn't hurt to hide most of your money on your person as while you will probably have no trouble there, Venezuela and Columbia are both potentially dangerous and there have been armed hold ups of tourists in Caracas. I had no trouble there though I did see a thief caught stealing.
You might consider travel insurance but if you plan on doing anything remotely dangerous, you must tell them or they will not pay out.
You don't say when you are going but it would not hurt to check general weather first as you don't want to go when it is wet there.
