I am a young female going to Thailand alone for the first time in November through to early March. I will be 20 at the time of travelling and am just seeking some guidance/help as I have a lot of questions and when looking online I get mixed opinions and answers.
So firstly - I am have booked my flight and returning flight to & from BBK via London on Thai Airways - anyone used this airline before? I will be flying in economy class.
I am going to be in Thailand for just over 3 months, I am young and outgoing, enjoy the party scene, however this is not what I intend to spend most of my time/money doing. I am looking for the beautiful beaches, relaxation, basically I want to find small paradises (too much to ask?)
I have made a rough itinerary/direction in which I want to go and am planning on heading South:

Here is the and types of visas. Perhaps a 60 day tourist visa would be your best bet. This can be extended for an additional 30 days, 1,900 baht. At some point you are going to leave Thailand in order to stay legal. Depending where you are when your visa is about to expire, you can hop across the nearest border for an additional 15 days. If this is not enough, then I suggest you plan on flying to a neighboring country. into Phnom Penh is probably your cheapest option. Visit Cambodia for a few weeks and then fly back into BKK for an additional 30 days, free. As an UK citizen, you will get a free 30 day permission to enter each time you fly into Tland. That should cover your 4 month holiday.
The beaches you plan on visiting are on the main tourist trail. You might want to visit some of the less visited islands for your piece of paradise. There are many small, less crowded islands close to Krabi. Do a bit a research and see if any appeal to you. While in Krabi, many like to . A good chance to visit some of the uninhabited islands off their coast. Hard to beat having an island to yourself! Join up with others that want a day away from the crowds.

You'll have the time of ur life. I went for 6 weeks in January and loved it. U gotta go up north to chaing mai and another place called Pai. Amazing places. You defo have the time to do it
For full moon party stay at v view bungalows. It's bout 10 mins from town of full moon but that town is mayhem. V view bungalows is in bann tai. Taxis 24/7 that pass the door. Looking on booking.com or on Facebook search pot Thailand that's the owner of v view.

Definitely check out Koh Phangan. There's a cool little beach there called Bottle Beach. You'll love it. And check out Thong Nai Pan which is close by. You'll like the whole island. Haad Rin is where the Full moon party takes place (another side of the island).
Go for relaxation, not the crowds. That's just my two cents. Koh Samui is way too crowded and cluttered. Also check out Koh Tao.
Paradise is hard to find, given the nature of tourism there. But Krabi..specially the Railay beach is amazing.
For accommodations, definitely check out Agoda.com and book the hostels / hotels in advance. Also read lots of people's experiences on tripadvidor threads, blogs and forums on this website. There's more literature on Thailand online than one can possibly handle. Watch out for tourist traps in BKK. Just do your research and you'll be fine.

I'm heading out alone in mid August for 6 months doing Thailand Cambodia aos and Vietnam but will defiantly be in koh phangan for the NYE full moon as I try and get there must years , will probably stay a month on that island as I absolutely love it , and it can be a very cheap island to say on , I've also been to bottle beach which I can confirm is stunning a very relaxing beach with hammocks everywhere and superb snorkelling . I also stay in bantai when I'm there at a resort called two rocks , I know an English girl who works there so I keep in contact with her on Facebook , can get a room there which is on the beach for abut 300bht a night , anyway hope this made some sense , if your a bit weary of traveling alone for your first few days feel free to give me a shout ......... That's was my plan is to go to the full moon party for new years. Me too be traveling alone but I'm heading out in december tel end of jan. Hope to see u there or we can meet up?

One very important thing is that as you are a girl travelling alone, you should be careful at full moon parties, I'm not saying you should not go cuz u would probably have the time of your life but just be abit careful, try to find people from your country there to hang around with or like hang around people who is tourist as well, just keep an eye out ( dont get too wasted ). Oh and in Bangkok if you like nightlife (not only clubbing but also good street food shopping at night in the streets) then the area you need to be in is Nana, I recommend you check out President Solitaire its price is reasonable and if im not wrong they have a good deal if your staying there for long and there is kitchenette in every room. Other than that you will definitely have a blast. Enjoyyy!!! (hope i was able to help)
I went to Thailad solo a few years ago, first time travelling alone so was a bit nervous! To calm me down I did a one week tour to ease me into it and meet other solo travellers!
Dont be nervous heading to Thailand! Its one of the friendliest places in the world and so easy to travel around! Youl have a great time, dont worry
Hello name is vincent. I am be traveling for bout 2 months se asia. My plans so for travel all over laos for 3 weeks and then spend rest of my time in thailand. Haven't made plans yet. But hopefully it be like the movie "the beach" if u haven't seen it yet, its pretty awsome. Also I want to try to make it to full moon party for new years. I real lay back person.
