5month USA Roadtrip - Buying a Car!?

Hey!

How are you going to stay in the country for 5 months? On a visa waiver you're only allowed to stay for 90 days.

As for the car: Look up some threads here in the North America forum by vegasmike; he has helped a number of overseas visitors with buying a car, and should be able to give you a lot of tips and advice. (My impression is that it's not trivial to do this, but doable, and especially for those under 25 (for whom renting is extra expensive) it can be a pretty good idea.)

Thanks for the tip Sander. In regards to visa (I'm finding all the official sites a nightmare to get my head around!) is it not possible to get a non-immigrant visa and keep extending my stay?

I thought it should be ok (maybe too naive) as I was viewing myself as a long-term tourist who's just coming over and pouring a chunk of money into the USA economy and then leaving.

Research B-2 Visas.

Cheers,
Terry

Joe,
2 guys from Denmark I helped stayed in the US 5 months. It is possible to get a 6 month visa. Check with the US Embassy. I have photos of several couples that I have helped buy vehicles. 1 on page 1, several on page 2. Story of Anders & Jen is . Good luck with your planning.
