First time backpacking help!

Hey all so I am off on my first backpack adventure but before I start to think about packing I want to ask a few questions if I can get some answers some of them may be stupid or pointless but I need to ask

Do you wear underwear at home every day? If yes, then wear it on the road too.

There are loads and loads of camera carry options at any decent camera store.

For hostel/hotel travel leave the tent and sleeping bag at home.

One suggestion for common sense backpacking travel...

Have fun with your research.

Cheers,
Terry

I guess it all depends entirely on how you yourself envision your trip, but my idea of the average backpacker is that this person stays in hostels and thus doesn't need a tent or sleeping bag, and is capable of regularly doing laundry (and if staying in dorm rooms, definitely does his or her fellow travellers a favour by wearing underwear).

As for your camera. I always carried mine with me in a small daypack while out for the day, only taking it out of the daypack when at a location where I wanted to take photos. (I carried mine with 18-200 lens inside a triangular toploader camera bag, and that went into the daypack, with a separate 12-24 lens also in that daypack.)
Dorm rooms tend to have lockers available, so when not staying in a private room, that's where I'd store the entire daypack at night.

Definitively yes, take underwear with you please, it is not something heavy to carry, you never know.

As for sleeping bag and tent well, are you planning to go to hostels or tramping out under the stars? think about it.

Finally, about your camera, as long as you keep it always close to you you should be fine.
