Im thinking of going to Oz Sep/Oct and would like to try get some casual work as a nurse there if possible. Just wondered if anyone has or is also doing this and what the best way to go about it is. Getting your registration there? Agencies? Jobs etc. Any Advice would be great xxx

I'm landing in Sydney on 6th September and I'm a mental health nurse, do you have your aphra registration or are you in the process of applying for this, this is basically your pin. It takes age so if you haven't applied for it yet I'd wait until your out there but check out the Website because you need a lot of evidence and university full transcripts etc
Then once you have aphra registration it's basically just finding jobs. Waiting for your crb check and finding agencies that are taking on.
What kind of nurse are you? How long you been qualified?where in Australia are you planning to work...I'll be in Sydney. You travelling alone? How old are you?

No haven't done anything yet! Only just decided this is what I wan a do!
So I should start applying for that now!? How long roughly did that take? and is it just a working holiday visa you apply for? Also what about the CRB check? and the agencies, how do you go about applying for them?

I'm 23 and have been qualified for nearly 2 years. At the moment I'm travelling alone but others are sounding interested but not nurses! I'm thinking of Queensland area to start.

All in all to get transcripts and the nmc hve to write off with official confirmatIon the paperwork side from your end, about 3 Months all being well and everything going according to plan.
It costs about 500, 00 including registration, the nmc doing what they need to do, transcripts ect So u should do that now. You get all of it emailed to you so when your ready to pick up your registration in oz they email you. So Even if u applied now and went over next month you would be okay as long as you has enough savings for a month or two,
Nursing on a whv you need a medical aswell which can cost upto 400, 00 plus your whv itself. So in total you need about 800.00 before even getting to oz.
The crb check gets done through your employer just like here so that is not too much of a worry
Just google agencies there are lots.
It's a long hard frustrating expensive slow process, but it's easy enough to complete and hopefully will be worth it when you are living down under
