Spending one week in Cambodia

hey guys
i'll go to Cambodia on this 16th August and spend time there for a week. i don't know anything about tourist attraction there. can you suggest me some places?. thanks

Lou,
I don't know if you are flying: BKK- PNH or going overland. If you fly into Phnom Penh, I would spend 2 days , then to Siem Reap. Allow 2-3 days for. Try allow some time for . One long day back to BKK.

If you are going overland thru Poipet, be sure to read about the route. Many scams crossing at Poipet. 3 days at , bus down to PP, 2-3 days sightseeing, fly home on. Good luck.

Yeah I'll fry to Phnom Penh with Air Asia and stay there for a few days. Then I may take a bus traveling around. Luckily, we probably meet each other at some places.
Thanks a lot for the information. I will keep in mind. Have a great trip. Good luck.

There are different places to visit in combodia:
Yeak Laom Lake
Royal Palace
Silver Pagoda
Night Market.

I went to Angkor Wat flying directly to siem reap. Definately worth going for 1/2 days max to see the temples, they are one of the wonders if the world and probably sole reason people go to cambodia.

Otherwise siem reap doesnt have much else, river trip and lively small night market for drinks

There's a lot of beautiful places in Cambodia and 1 week vacation is not enough. I spent 3 days to Angkor Wat which is so beautiful and the largest religious monument in the world.`I went to Preah Vihear Temple as well which is an ancient temple. This temple is dedicated to Shiva. I have not missed the National Museum of Cambodia which is located in Phnom Penh and the country's leading historical and archaeological museum. Those were my favorite places so far.

Hope that helps you a little and have a nice vacation!

While in Phnom Penh there's the Grand Palace (not far from the FCC) and it;s certainly worth getting a tuk-tuk out to the killing fields at Choeung Ek and then back to the school at Tuol Sleng (S21) - very sobering sight-seeing. Not exactly pleasant but it's something everybody should see in PP.

I visited only Siem Reap (in the north west region) during my Cambodia travel in Jan 2012, it has an international airport with plenty of flight connections to KL, BKK, Singapore and other places. Angkor Wat in Siem Reap is a huge archaeological complex and is the primary reason for tourists heading to Cambodia. Apart from this, the Thonle Sap lake (the largest freshwater lake in S.E.Asia) is other attraction in Siem Rep.

I didn't visit places other than Siem Reap, but found then during my pre-travel research that Phnom Penh (capital) and Sihanoukville (beach) are good too. But even then, most tourists keep Siem Reap as primary destination and you could check the others only if you have sufficient time. For Angkor, there are a variety of itineraries ranging from 1 day to more than a week, given that the complex is huge, which ones you cover depends on your time.

The canbypublications website provides lots of info for Siem Reap with maps, routes and temple info, was very handy for me then.
