So im hoping to be travelling Austrailia for a year starting east coast feb 2014 ... I have no plans yet just wanting advice where to start? How to go about meeting people ect .... I'm so excited but nervous as never done anything like this before! Anyone looking to leave around the same time? Any help is much appreciated
Hi! I'm also taking the plunge. I leave in February on my own too and will work my way up the east coast, I want to see the sites and do a bit of work!
I am going for at least 6 months.
Meeting people will be easy, the hardest part is taking the plunge and going ahead with it. You have one life, and what is life if we dont push ourselves and try and further ourselves? But you will meet people on the same path as you, people who are also headed out alone and wanting to explore. I am going out on a Working Holiday Visa. It's fairly easy to get a VISA really, and flights are only about £700 for feb at the moment.

From what I've heard Adam's right, meeting people will be really easy, considering everyone else is doing the same thing as you. I'm also travelling by myself, and I'll be in Sydney in January! My advice would be to just take the plunge, book your flights and get out there! Every single person I know who's travelled in Australia has absolutely loved it!
