Hello fellow travelers, appreciate some travel tips/help on the below!
If my memory serves me right (since December 2009) tickets for Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples are available at 4:30pm for the following day. This means you can visit the area after 4:30pm and watch the sunset from a hill down between the ruins and then go back and do a full day visit (Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Prohm and others) the next day. Visitors start queuing for the tickets about 4pm ish. You might just be able to visit the full site in the morning if you start out at 6am and whizz round - not ideal but...
Enjoy!
1. I don't know about overnight buses, but the one I took during the day lasted merely 4-5 hours. Go in the early morning so you don't miss a thing on the beach. It's not that far from Phnom Penh! .
2. Siem Reap: Less than 24 hrs is too bad! Try the Encore Angkor Guest House. Jump the back of a motorcycle or tuk-tuk for Angkor Wat and the sunset at Phnom Bakheng. Spend the evening in Bar Street and the adjacent blocks. Get up at sunrise and join your moto driver for two more temples at Angkor, including the Bayon. .
3. Never been there.
