hi, i have just arrived home after being in australia for 12 months and im looking in to claiming my super back. however, my dillema is that on everything that i read, you can only withdraw this money if leaving the country permanantly.....im not. i would like the money to help with flights etc as i already have my 2nd year visa and plan to go back down under in a month or so. does anyone know if i claim my super if my new 2nd year visa will get cancelled? any help would be appreciated. Alan.
I sincerely doubt the tax and immigration offices have gotten their systems that synced up, but I would still strongly recommend against getting your super back before you go back down. I mean, what happens with the money you make during your second period. Now you've just used up your super reclaim possibility. While the tax and immigration systems might not be synced, you can bet the tax system will kick up a flag if you file for a super refund twice within 2 years, after supposedly having left permanently
In other words, I'd really recommend you try and do this without claiming your super back from the first trip, no matter how hard financially.
