I'm looking to visit the Grand Canyon in May 2014 and just wondering how much time I should realistically spend there? I enjoy hiking but don't know how varied it is to indulge myself in.
Hi Nick, I've only been to the South Rim part of the park. There wasn't a whole lot of accommodation to choose from. Here's a listing your options all around the park.
Just from a bit of quick looking though, I think the cheapest option is likely to stay at . First come, first serve. If you have some good camping gear, this seems a rather good option.
By the way, be sure to get up early one morning though for a sunrise. It's beautiful over the canyon!
go to gmaps and look at it in street walk and on you tube.
We stayed outside the actual park - Red Feather Hotel (€58 pr/pn). 10min drive to the GC park. As we had a car was easy to get in and out. 2 days for us was plenty and we did use the park bus to get around, which is covered by your park ticket. Plenty walks to do.
